There are some fantastic places to vacation here in America, and you rarely have to go too far from home to enjoy the wilderness and get away from the daily grind. And if you live in Kentucky and you enjoy going on off-road adventures in your 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, there are plenty of opportunities to test what this fabulous family SUV is capable of. So, here are some of the best off-road trails in Kentucky you might want to check out the next time you're on vacation in your Grand Cherokee, which as well as being extremely capable is also a great vehicle for being safe while off-roading.
Black Mountain Off-Road Adventure Area
The Black Mountain Off-Road Adventure Area has the kind of name that makes no bones about what its primary entertainment is. Located in Harlen County and managed by the Harlen County Outdoor Recreation Board Authority, the area offers more than 7,000 acres of mountain terrain with elevations of up to 3,000 feet to test your Grand Cherokee's capability and your prowess as an off-road driver. The dedicated off-road area offers Class 1 through 5 off-road trails with suitable obstacles for to be overcome. There are more than 200 miles of marked off-roading trails to navigate, and trail maps are available to help keep you on course.
Mountain Parkway Off-Road
Located in Clay City, which is about a 40-minute drive from Lexington, Mountain Parkway Off-Road is advertised as having trails for dirt bikes and ATVs, so it's probably not a place designed to test your Grand Cherokee to the limit. However, if you're into dirt bikes and ATVs you can always tow them there with your Jeep.
Rush Off-Road
Rush Off-Road can be found at 100 Four Mile Road, Rush, KY 41168, and it's a site that's designated as suitable for ATVs, buggies, trucks, side-by-sides, bikes, and Jeeps. It's something like 15 minutes from I-64 via Route 3 in northeastern Kentucky, and it offers more than a hundred miles of trails spread across an area of some 7,000-acres. There are wide trails available that are suitable for novice riders and drivers, but there are also plenty of more technical trails for those off-roaders with more experience. There is what's described as primitive camping available as long as you obtain a permit, although there's also a trailhouse suitable for sleeping up to eight people that's available to rent.
Wilderness Trail Off-Road Park
For 120 miles of rocky terrain spread across 9,000 acres of land along with what's very honestly described as primitive camping and fishing, you might want to check out Wilderness Trail Off-Road Park. Most of the trails in the park are described as being suitable for beginners, so if you're looking for something more challenging you might want to get in touch first as they do say and more trails are being added all the time. Either way, the park does offer some stunning views of the Cumberland and Pine Mountain ranges, and you can find it at 7526 US 119, Pineville, KY 40977.
Bills 491 Off-Road ATV Park
Another worth checking out if you want to put your 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee through its paces is Bills 491 Off-Road ATV Park, which can be found at 2342 US 491, DeMossville, KY 41033. Vehicle types described as being allowed on its several miles of trails include quads, cycles and full-size 4×4 vehicles, so it sounds promising.
